This software has been placed into the public domain in september 1990 to establish a reference point for comparing the performance of PC compatible VGA systems. The 3Dbenchmark is arrived at by timing one cycle of a continuous 3-dimensional demonstration and then calculating the average number of screen updates the computer system has achieved in one second (frames per second - fps). It's one of the simpliest programs.

This is a fun little demo of a procedurally generated tree. It allows you to create a tree of varying size, shape and complexity. Be careful though, if you dial up the complexity (depth) too high on a non T&L accelerated graphics card, things can get REAL slow. This little demo also turned out to be useful as a benchmark. nVidia has also released a few similar demos. All of them can be found at the company's website.
